Building independent political power means building an organization that is proudly self-funded, by members. Paying membership dues is an important expression of members’ ownership of York Stands Up.

Members may choose between three membership dues options:

  1. Standard Membership Rate: $10 a month
  2. Hourly Wage Membership Rate. This option is to pay a monthly rate equal to one hour of your wages. For instance, if you make $15 an hour, you would give $15 a month.
  3. Extra-Give Membership Rate: Members who are able can choose to contribute more. Consider giving $27 a month or $50 a month!

Members who are students, seniors, or experiencing financial hardship may pay a discounted membership rate.

Members vote on all candidate endorsements.

One important way York Stands Up works for change is to put our volunteer capacity behind progressive candidates in key electoral races. As a member, you get to vote on which candidates York Stands Up endorses and supports. All YSU endorsements are decided by membership vote.

Members are polled regularly on other strategic questions.

As a member, you are invited to give your input to shape the work and direction of York Stands Up. Members can give input and feedback through regular member surveys and meetings.

Members are encouraged to get involved at the local level.

We’re building political power all across York County by organizing groups at the local level. Members are encouraged to join the regional group nearest them and to get involved in an ongoing way that helps to build our collective capacity.

Members pay dues.

Building a powerful grassroots organization takes resources: paying our staff members a living wage, running communications campaigns, eventually rent for an office, printing flyers, running a robust canvass operation, running issue campaigns, and more. Building independent political power means building an organization that is proudly self-funded, by members. Paying membership dues is an important expression of members’ ownership of York Stands Up.
